Need help: Foreclosure on old home don’t own

sold my home 2 years ago moved to another state no debts after the move as all settled before settlement of the sale. Get letter today asking me and my wife to appear in some foreclosure conference for my old home that is owned by someone else. The claimed secured debt company none of us are aware of even new homeowners. Wouldn’t this be revealed at settlement before closing?
Not sure if this is legal or what to do?
