changing locks on vacant property

Hello Ward,
What are the risks of changing locks on a vacant property before trustee's deed was recorded? We recorded the deed within 15 days. The property was completely vacant with no personal property inside. All the kitchen cabinets and flooring were ripped out and left in the garage. We got a call from previous owner's lawyer (labor lawyer) three days after we recorded the deed. She said we are liable because we did not go through proper eviction channels and her client will be retaking the property.We did abandonment of personal property per civil code 1988 for some construction material left in the garage.
