deficiency on shortsale in california

can someone help me? I lived in my house for 3 years in california, I short sold it, (i also refinanced it after about a 1.5 years of owning it) first was : 320k 2nd was : 70k both loans were with Chase. my ? is do I owe anything or is it considered a gift if the short sale was for 217k and I owed 490k?

I purchased it in Dec 2004, and it sold jan of 2011.
