No appraisals before a foreclosureIn Reply to: foreclosure without benefit of appraisal posted by Rick Spring on April 19, 2003 at 1:02 PM Probably just another way of saying the house will be sold "as-is for the winning bid". It's language to warn the bidders, more than you. If the trustee paid for an appraisal before the auction, it would not benefit anyone. It would just increase the trustee's overhead, and the bidding would definately not go above the appraisal. Remember, the purpose of the auction is to try and get the best price for the ex-owner and his creditors.
