Foreclosure percentagesIn Reply to: Percentage of properties actually sold at scheduled auctions posted by Edward on February 06, 2004 at 6:53 PM : To folks who go to auctions: : What do you see as far as the percentage of properties actually being sold to a third party? What is the percentage of REOs? : Looking at Retran.net I notice that if an LA County auction is scheduled for the next day, there is only about 15% chance it will be sold at that auction and about 5% chance it will go the bank. The rest our rescheduled, stopped through bankruptcies, cancelled or some other stuff. : Are these the numbers you are seeing these days? Do these numbers vary depending on the market situation? ============= Edward, The statistics available to me show, from year to year, that the percentage of foreclosures sold to 3rd parties runs a narrow range of 8% to 10% of all foreclosure sales. Therefore the percentage of foreclosure sales going to the lenders is 92% to 90%. The above statistics are fairly steady regardless of the foreclosure market. What varies quite a lot through the market extremes of a Seller’s market to a Buyer’s market is the percent of Notices of Default (NOD’s) that end up getting sold. Right now we are getting to one of our lowest ebbs of about 10.9% of the NOD’s actually going to trustee’s sale. In 2002 it was right around 15.2% and in 2001 it was about 14.5%. As a contrast, in 1996 or 1996 it was about 51.0% Hope this helps.
