Things are pretty relaxed at N.C. auctions. I've seen investors and even the auctioneer make comments about properties right before the bidding begins. ("Lotta back taxes on that one..." "Did you get a look at the back?" etc.)

In fact, the auctioneers are relatively cooperative about modifying the order of presentation. I've seen a bidder ask "Hey can we do that one first?" -- "Yeah, sure" -- then, a few minutes too late, somebody else shows up.

But I guess part of that is b/c the auction is somewhat for show. You have ten more days to file upset bids anyway, if you really want something.
