Make it a one-on-one activity...In Reply to: Interview with investors posted by Kawika Ohumukini on December 29, 2003 at 9:17 AM : Hi, : My wife and I are ready to start looking for deals and have 4 investors (friends, colleagues, and family) that we are scheduled to meet with in January one of which is a 20 year REI veteran. : Is there a good resource for how to handle the initial meetings? : Thanks, Kawika, There are two books on the syndication of real property I can recommend: 1. “Limited Liability Company For Group Investments” from first tuesday (Realty Publications) in Riverside, CA 2. “Syndicating Single Family Homes” by Claire R. Fox, 1982 ISBN 0-9601530-6-3 Both of these books suggest NOT hosting a group meeting with potential investors in lieu signing up your investors one by one. The theory is that just one sourpuss in a group can chill the enthusiasm of all the other attendees. So I don’t take the risk. I sign up my investors one at a time.
