: It's common knowledge that you can get the best price on a car at the end of the year... dealers want to reduce inventory, sales people want to make quota, or recover christams expenses. People are busy and have plans... they just want to get deals done, and go home.

: Do you think this applies when trying to scoop up REOs? Do banks have any incentive to "clear the books" at the end of December?

The idea is good and of course all companies want to close the year end with as much postive sales or bad debt cleared as possible. However, banks are not the same as cart lots. Car lots are driven by new year models and not driven so much by year end.

If I was going to try this method I would find out when the bank has there year end.
