I realized afterwards that I left out some important details (i.e. jurisdiction, etc). To recap: My Aunt's house (located in California) is in foreclosure. There are a couple of liens by the EDD which were recorded in 1997 and 1998. The total of the debt is quite substantial. The foreclosure on the house is recent (the notice of foreclosure is dated March 2003). Unless my Aunt is able to get her house out of foreclosure, it will be sold at auction within the coming months. She would like to know the following: 1. if the house is sold at auction, what will happen to liens placed by the EDD? 2. if the house is sold at auction, what will happen to her debt to the EDD?
