Re: Ask a title officer or certified escrow officer...In Reply to: Ask a title officer or certified escrow officer... posted by Ward-CA- on June 29, 2003 at 8:12 PM Ward: I use both an attorney and escrow people to get done what I need to get done. While attorneys are not the people to record the doc., they are the people to take a look at the option contract. While my escrow agent is very thorough when reviewing docs, she simply does not know the law. And most escrow and title people I know use the words "law" and "policy" interchangeably as if corporate and underwriting policy is the law. Drives me nuts. One needs both. One needs to satisfy the title people and one needs to know the law. Option docs need to be reviewed by an RE attorney. Good ones are hard to find, I'll grant you that. Sincerely, Kristine : Kristine, : Haven't you noticed that most attorneys in CA don't know too much about real estate matters? : That's because they don't get a lot of real estate legal experience in this state since we don't usually use attorneys in our buying and selling of property. We use the services of title insurance and escrow instead. : So most CA attorneys don't know anything about the technicalities of recording a document in the county recorder's office. : The people who know this stuff are title officers and escrow officers.
