: Are you ever required to produce the trust agreement (to prove the trustee has power of sale, for example)?

Senv,

No. In Ca most of us tender a Certification of Trust in lieu of surrendering our Trust Agreement, to vouchsafe the Trustee’s identification and powers.

The Grantee’s vesting language on the face of the deed would run something like, “Jane Doe, Trustee of the Mission Gorge Trust, dated 6-01-03”.
