When does a foreclosure 'mark' hit the credit report?

Posted by Barry-MN on June 12, 2003 at 5:41 PM

Ward/others,
When talking with people in pre-forecosure, I would like to sound as educated as possible.
My question is at what point would a foreclosure show up on their credit? Does it happen when the Sheriff Sales happens or when the redemption period is over? (6 months in my state.)
I just don't want to tell someone that I am keeping a foreclosure off their credit....if I'm actually not...or at least at what point.
Thanks in advance.

-Barry (MN)
