No free lunch..In Reply to: what about appraisers? posted by Travis-CA on May 29, 2003 at 5:31 PM : 1) does being a certified general appraiser raise any red flags or liability problems when buying foreclosures? : 2) does anyone know if appraisers can gain access to the MLS without a brokers license?
Travis, #1. Yes, it sets up the issue of taking unconscionable advantage of the defaulting owner. The professional appraiser would have no place to hide, no excuse for not giving the owner in trouble at least half of the net equity in the property to avoid the charge of dealing unfairly with the owner. #2. You cannot gain access unless you are a licensed member of the local realty board.
