Present Them WIth The New RealityIn Reply to: How can I handle with the previous owner and tenants? posted by James on May 22, 2003 at 9:10 AM I'd try to meet the tenants in person and inform them ASAP not to pay the owner anymore, and that the owner owes them their security deposit. Then get them to sign a new rental agreement. Ward always emphasizes that the owner needs to make a psychological break with the property. He's described the process before on the forum, just hunt around in the archives. (You basically have to meet with the owner and explain that he's better off moving out cooperatively than to be evicted, and that it's nothing personal-- just business.) If all else fails, call an attorney and start the eviction.
