: Hi,
: Paid my last payment on two properties on 3/25/03
: I have been waiting for a letter of satisfaction.
: I have been waiting 50 days now.
: I feel that something is not right and the Mortgagees are up to something.
: They keep saying I will be getting papers in the mail.
: How long should it take to get some paper work showing ownership?
: I have a Deed and all my payment receipts.
: Should I contact my lawyer?
: Am I just worrying for nothing?

: Thank you,
: Mike

Mike,

Recorded evidence of loan payoffs are commonly delayed nowadays, even though many states provide for penalties if the lender exceeds the allowable time limit.

So check the applicable statute in your state regarding the maximum time allowed to record the payoff of your mortgage and send your lender a copy of it with the next reminder you send them.

Hope this helps.
