Learning the recordsWell, I visited the courthouse of the NC county where I have moved. It's not like CA -- they have two recorder's offices on seperate computer systems. One for deeds and notes, and the other for judgements. It looks like a lot of people are still doing things "the old fashioned way" because the microfilm stations were full, and people were looking in those grantor/grantee ledgers. And this is the most populous county. Fortunately for me, a local title agent has agreed to let me observe how she researches next week. Hopefully I will pick up some basics, without having to bug the clerks right away! Obviously, the objective should be for me to learn how to find clear title and all the leins. But what are some good questions for me to ask, on this next "field trip?"
