Re: Another WrinkleIn Reply to: Another Wrinkle posted by Lealand B. on December 20, 2009 at 7:22 PM Why do you need to inspect the property as to condition? That's not a condition of cash for keys. Do you mean inspect so you can make sure there is no personal property left in the house? Couple of questions: how do you know she's the owner? And not just someone who read the notice at the house? How about if you do agree to meet her at a location away from the house and have her sign a cash for keys agreement, but that she has to bring ID. And make sure you have someone at the house at the time you are meeting to change the locks and board if necessary. I've had some cash for keys go bad when it's been possible for the tenants to get back into the house. : So we posted a 3 day notice and during that time found a way to look inside the house. The house is completely empty. As I said before the neighbors saw them move out and the electricity is off. We were expecting to enter and secure tomorrow when I got a call today from the previous owner saying that she saw the notice and she wants cash for keys. I said that in order for that to happen we needed to inspect the property to see the condition. She doesn't want to do that or meet us at the property. So should we just change the locks and stop talking to her (I realize she could sue for wrongful eviction, but what would the damages be???).
