Re: Do any of you guys stage your homes when selling? In Reply to: Do any of you guys stage your homes when selling? posted by Billy Jean on November 09, 2009 at 11:56 PM I've seen it done well and I've seen it done poorly. The people promoting 'staging' will quote very attractive returns for the money spent. I haven't seen the returns. I've been a broker/investor a LONG time and at one time investigated becoming a 'certified stager' (us Real a tors love having lots of letters behind our names). I don't stage and it is not in my business plan. The attempts I've seen in my market area don't seem to add to the gross sales price. And, some of the 'staging' costs 3-4k (yikes!). Pretty typical in my market is for the TS properties to have fresh paint, flooring, granite counters, new appliances and fresh landscaping. That puts the property so far ahead of the competition that flowers on the counters and towels on the towel racks just doesn't add much. But, hey, try it and report back.
