On the responses, I agree with your take on the Japan / LA comparison, LA having a population increase and desirability factors that Japan does not have. Also the guy who brought San Bernardino into the comparison...not LA, I wouldn't touch SB, or Riverside, either for that matter. As for the guy who went on about many people having bought in the past 2 yrs with no money down, etc, and now in trouble...that wasn't what you were talking about, you were talking about (right?), the irony of many seemingly on this website waiting for the big crash to pounce and make big bucks while as you correctly said, if you were investing and buying back then and holding you would have made that anyway.
