How to avoid or postpone 1st mortgage foreclosing?

Posted by bob on March 25, 2004 at 7:55 PM

I bought a property from a 2nd mortgage foreclosing this week in PA. The 1st mortgage will foreclose next month (debt $170,000). There is about $80,000 suplus from the 2nd mortgage sale. It takes one or two months for sheriff to distribute the fund. What options do I have to avoid or postpone 1st mortgage foreclosing sale? Contact the bank directly? Can I assume the 1st mortgage or buy it and get assigned? BTW, the 1st mortgage is Chase Manhatan Mort Corp. Which dept or persons should I talk to? Any contact information?

Thank you very much!

Bob
