: They are filed in the superior court clerks office of the county where
: the case was heard and judgement entered. So to research title thoroughly
: in the lovely state of washington you have to go to the county recorder and
: the superior court where the property is located. If it is awarded outside the county
: where the property is, then they must record at the grantor grantee at the county.

: This last part I still need to get clear.

Todd,

Here in San Diego County we have 4 judicial districts, each with its own Superior Court.

So if your procedure regarding searching for judgments was in place here in CA, I'd have to go to all four Superior Courts (North, South, East and Central) that are stretched out to the extremities of this huge county!

And at each court clerk's office, is there a 10 year civil index of plaintiffs and defendants arranged in alphabetical order that I could search through to find if a judgment exists against the target homeowner? If such an index exists, is it available via the internet?

I like the obtuseness of your system. It adds an additional layer of complexity that your competition is not going to know anything about until it's too late.

Well, let us know what you discover there.
