Making a judgment collectible...

Todd,

The seller of the judgment will sign a formalized Assignment of Judgment that should accompany a filled out Abstract of Judgment form.

Go to the court that issued the judgment and file with the Court Clerk's Office the assignment of judgment.

Then, for a small fee, the clerk will sign, date and put the court's seal on the Abstract of Judgment form and hand it back to you to take to the County Recorder's office to record.

If you combine the trip to the court with the trip to the recorder's office it shouldn't take more than an hour or so.
