Selling my home, trying to keep max cash in pocket

Posted by Vic on March 07, 2004 at 2:22 PM

Hey Ward,

I haven't been here for a while... I'm getting ready to sell my home and I want whatever approach will put the most cash in my pocket. In this market (and my neighboorhood in particular: Discovery Hills area in San Marcos) the properties literally sell in one day.

I really can't see forking over even 3% to a realtor. If I get it listed on the MLS, and can get an escrow company to handle the paperwork, how do I deal with say, a buyer's agent who will probably expect a commission?

What can I expect my total costs to be? The house is worth 450-470K.

Thanks!

Vic

P.S. I'm moving to Ogden, UT and I'm thinking of doing foreclosures there where the prices aren't quite so intimidating or the market so insane. Any thoughts there?
