Property tax lien salesIn Reply to: Property Tax Foreclosure Auction of house posted by Tim Grant on February 24, 2004 at 8:46 PM
: : http://madera.homestead.com : Any advice on this type of foreclosure? thanks ============== Tim, Delinquent property tax sales are the most senior lien against real property. So you'd think that a property tax lien sale would wipe everything off title. But that's not necessarily so. Sometimes the county tax collector doesn't want their tax lien sale to wipe out some other county lien (such as a support lien, etc.). So I'd talk with the tax collector and verify what liens, if any, they don't intend to wipe off the title of the property. Also, you frequently are told by title companies that you can't get title insurance coverage for a year after the sale. If that's true, then you'd have to think more carefully whether you really want a property you can't borrow on or resell for at least one year. Follow Ups: Post a Followup:
