And by the way, lying is the wrong word here. Sure, it's probably not the truth in terms of what you're looking to learn, but that "it's been taken care of" thing encompasses lots of different solutions, and reinstating is only one of them. Do you know about Plan B'ing them? We plan B all the time and find it's the best solution in these situations. Basically, it's just, "that's great . . . but have you got a backup plan if it doesn't work out. Tell you what, I'd be happy to put together a Plan B for you in case things go south." Or something like that. It's all about being nonthreatening and approaching in nondirect ways that are easy to accept. Joe
