Re: Questions on set-up and use of an LLCIn Reply to: Questions on setting up LLC posted by Haywood on November 02, 2001 at 11:09 AM : Nolo Press has a website that helps you set up a California LLC. The forms are under $30.00. Is their format acceptable to set up an LLC for title holding trust purposes? Or should I spend more money for a more customized articles? : Is there any benefit in having a corporation as an agent for the LLC for service of process vs. myself as an individual? : By giving my home address in the LLC application will the privacy of the title holding trust be compromised? : Also, should I also form another corp. or LLC to do business in foreclosures for liability protection? Or can the one LLC act as both trustee in title holding trusts & for daily business activities in the foreclosure business. (such as Innovest) : Thanks •«««««««««««•»»»»»»»»»»•«««««««««««•»»»»»»»»»»• Haywood, you can get the model forms for the LLC free, from your local branch office of the California Secretary of State. That’s what I did here in San Diego. I don’t see any benefit having a corporation as the agent of the LLC. I don’t see any problem using your name and address on the LLC formation documents since you can’t be liable for any of the LLC’s liabilities. However, to frustrate data divers, I'd use a PO Box or business address. The one LLC can do double or triple service besides being the trustee of your title holding trusts.
