Because interest rates are at 40 year lows, and buyers are only thinking "monthly payment". I.e. super-high sales price.

Also, because he's there every day, (and a few other big wheels) it becomes very discouraging to newbies who want to bid at the sale. They give up, and quit coming. Then the old hands scoop up what's left, at better prices. Someone with a large bankroll can play the averages like this.

Even Ward has said that some of these guys are going to crash and burn if they don't adjust their strategy someday. CA has seen a gangbuster rising seller's market since 1997. But many foreclosure buyers have never faced a buyer's market.
