Economic impact nil, donation of money or time is priceless. In Reply to: Fires in SoCal??? posted by Jk on October 27, 2003 at 8:44 AM
: What effect if any will all the fires have on the SoCal RE market? Is there anything as investors we should do to help out the situation? JK, The SoCal RE market is so huge, the loss of 1,000 to 2,000 homes and structures won’t have a significant impact. Most of the material losses will be covered by insurance and most owners will rebuild. There will be a short term impact on rental housing stocks as temporarily displaced owners rent elsewhere, while their homes are repaired and rebuilt. Probably the most meaningful thing you could do to ameliorate matters and help out those who suffered losses is to donate money to your local American Red Cross Chapter. They do an amazing job of almost instantly providing emergency shelter, clothing, foodstuffs and money to those in need.
