Re: Landlord is losing house and disappeared... when are we out?In Reply to: Re: Landlord is losing house and disappeared... when are we out? posted by Lughead on October 04, 2003 at 11:42 AM : the ways given in the earlier reply are FREE !!!! Thank you for your help. Taking a day off work to wait in line at the county recorder's office is not free. Nor is it free to pay a service to do so. I'd be happy to pay a few bucks to find out for sure, just for my peace of mind, but taking time off work is usually not an option with my job, which I started recently and have little in the way of time off accrued. I am not trying to "stay until the last split second". I am just trying to find out when the heck that last second is, so I can plan accordingly. When you have lived in a house for 7 years it takes time to find a new place (esp in this market!). If I knew I had 90 days from the time the notice was posted to my door (it gets taped up securely, right?) that would help a lot with my planning. Am I likely to have 21 days' notice? Am I going to have 90 days notice? 120? 14? These are all numbers I have seen in various places, and I'm not sure which one applies in my situation, and they are all drastically different, from a planning viewpoint. And what it the new owner is willing to let us stay and sign a lease with him? That would be ideal, what what are the timings involved? You can see why it doesn't make sense for me to jump ship too soon. I was just hoping someone here would know more about the process. I appreciate that your focus is more on investments, but making slurs and innuendos about my motives is petty. Sorry to intrude on your board. I guess I'll talk with a lawyer friend of mine and see if he can find out for me without bothering you people any more.
