Transfer tax ruminations...In Reply to: Transfer Tax posted by SeanW on September 10, 2003 at 7:28 PM : I recorded my N.C. Trustee's deed this morning. I was pleasantly surprised, to find a check attached to it from the trustee, to pay the tansfer tax. (Although, it's only .002 of the bid amount. The CA tax is something like .0055, right?) : Don't bidders in CA have to pay this for themselves? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Yes, CA bidders pay their own transfer tax. It's strange since in every other instance it's the sellers who pay the transfer tax in CA. The base rate here is 55 cents per $500.00 of seller's equity being transferred to the buyer.
