Rick, thanks for your answers.

My situation was a little different than you might have assumed, though. I have been the high bid on an estate foreclosure for the past 10 days (the N.C. redemtion period.) So I didn't plan to negotiate with the heirs. I was just curious how likely it would be for them to stop the sale. (From what you've said, not too likely!)

Now I'm waiting to hear from the trustee, if this sale is final. I checked the foreclosure file at the court 5 minutes before the last day of redemtion-- and there were no other bidders. And no dismissal.

The nutty thing, is this house has no 2nd on it!! You'd think the deceased's husband would have sold for whatever he could.
