: What is an "upset bid?" What state are you in? Is this a California issue?

-----------

As far as I know, only North and South Carolina allow upset bids. When someone files an upset, the sale remains open for an additional 10 days for any other additional upsets.

This can be really annoying. But, it's part of the game. Many of the "pros" deliberately wait until after the auction. They figure it's a time saver in the long run, to just wait to see what REALLY went to sale, then file 5% more if the deal is any good.

But, I'm a cheapskate. I wanna get them for the lowest possible price, and I still go to the auction!
