sheriffs tax sale and IRS liens and bankruptcy

Posted by KEL on October 08, 2001 at 12:03 AM

Hello.

I was doing some research on the web on the tax sales in the state of Texas and ran across a site with a warning about investing in tax sales. Speaking of buyers of these tax sale liens, it states (if) "they did not do proper title and bankruptcy research, their tax liens can become worthless."

This has me concerned since I am actively participating in these sales in Texas.

My questions are: Would these incumbrances show up on the county land records? Could they file bankruptcy or an IRS lien AFTER I have purchased the tax lien and effect my ability to get my money back with interest or the property? Are their places to research these types of proceedings ?

Any help would be vastly appreciated.
