: My Aunt's home is in foreclosure. There are a couple of liens against her house. One is a lien by the EDD (Employment Development Department for employment taxes) which is quite substantial. Could anyone tell me if her home is sold at a foreclosure auction, what happens to the EDD's lien? Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Nohea,

I don't know the jurisdiction you're in, so I'll answer as if it's CA.

If the foreclosing lien was recorded in the county recorder's office. earlier in time than the EDD lien, then that foreclosure will wipe off the title of the property the junior EDD lien.
