foreclosure surplus
My house went to foreclosure last year and the new owner has spent almost a year trying to get my ex-husband evicted from the home. I live in Maryland and short of my paying the mortgage and rent elsewhere there was nothing I could do but let the house go. It's complicated, but there were domestic abuse issues. Apparently there is a surplus of about $9500. My ex has agreed to sign over his share to the new owner to pay for damages and neglect to the house and now they want my share as well. Even my ex's divorce lawyer has made a claim against the surplus. What type of lawyer would I need to consult to protect my rights if I have any? My divorce papers say that we each waive our rights to marital property, real or personal. Thank you for any advice.
