They will have a clear understanding how of "general rules" affect your particular situation. The main thrust of your question seems to be about timing and not necessarily a legal question. Based on the scenario you present, we have seen people in similar situations who were then able to rectify their outstanding arrearages and keep their home from being foreclosed on. (We have never seen a mortgage company able to set up an auction sale the day after a bankruptcy was converted. Generally speaking, it may take them some time to complete the process.) There may be unique circumstances in the situation you describe which an attorney could speak to. Making a call to an attorney for a free consultation should be easy... as there are likely to be plenty in your area who are willing to discuss the matter with you.
