: I'm buying a house for my personal residence and I intend to put it into a trust. I realize the typical Title Holding Trust is not meant for this type of transaction. My question is: Would I use the Irrevocable Trust for securing my domicile? Should I try to put the title under this trust from the get-go or do the transaction in my wife's and my name as joint tenants and then deed it to my trust afterwards?

Jim,

One of the reasons people use a THT (title holding trust) is for privacy. And the ultimate in privacy is to arrange your ownership of real property in such a manner as to have never had it appear in your name in the public record?the county recorder?s records.

So if you arrange to take title directly into the THT right from the get go, then do it by all means.
