Digging a little deeperIn Reply to: Tax Lien Priority posted by SeanW on June 10, 2003 at 4:16 PM After reviewing Ward's answer, it looks like N.C. is the same as CA on the state tax priority. State taxes have to be docketed as judgements and their priority is based by date. Although it does appear city and county assessment fees (like sewer improvments), in addition to property tax, always have priority over general liens.
