The Retail Party Is About OverIn Reply to: PREVENTIVE INVESTMENT posted by JOHN - CA on June 05, 2003 at 12:33 AM Southern Cal is kind of special in that it's much more supply/demand driven... only so much land is available within a reasonable commute of jobs, and people have continued to migrate in. But with the mess the state gov't there is facing (sounds like 1992 again... hey, warrant checks, anybody???) that I have to wonder if a 1992-style housing market will follow. I'd say it's not necessarily true that we'll see a bust like the internet bubble. We could just have 10 to 15 years of stagnant prices. People NEED land but they didn't need much of the dot-com junk. The key to making any money in R.E. the future, will be to get it below retail... Which is why I'm studying foreclosures.
