Re: No, just change the locks and post the property..In Reply to: No, just change the locks and post the property.. posted by Ward-CA- on May 26, 2003 at 11:51 PM : : i bought a property in trustee sale, which was also in escrow for several month.previous owner had already vacated the property and shut off all utilities. after realizing the buyer of the property was not the buyer in escrow, the previous owner refused to give me the keys and wanted to turn the result over in court. My question is do i need to start with eviction or i can directly move into the property by hiring a locksmith. : ============ : If the property is vacant and the utilities are off then the possessory interest has been abandoned. All you have to do in that case is to take possession, turn on the utilities and change the locks. Once you have taken possession of property thats deeded in your name its much, much harder for anyone to displace you. : Also, put a small sign in a window closest to the front door and also the rear door. It should read something like the following: : For information regarding this : Michael Johnson, Trustee : Thank you very much Mr. Ward. appreciated
