: Ward I look at the Public Records before buying any house. I had a title check done on a house I sold today and they found a judgment that I did not find because the name was misspelled. They advised me they run what is called a "sound check" anything that sounds like there name. Yes the name was misspelled that is why I could not find it but I still have to pay the judgment. What system do they use and could I join it or do you have a web site to point me to? I am based in Florida.

Tim,

I’m not familiar with any sound check system that vouchsafes the spelling of names in the grantor/grantee index at the recorder’s office or anywhere else. So I’m hoping that when you find out the details you’ll post us with all the info.
