house foreclosed being sued for appliances

Posted by Deneen on May 20, 2003 at 4:37 PM

To make a long story short, my home went to foreclosure. There was a public auction in Feburary. I was told by the attorneys handling the sale that I had until March 31 to remove all personal items from the home. The sale was to be ratified on that date. So I proceeded to vacate the premises. I took with me my refrigerator and stove. Neither of the appliance were built into the home, they just plugged in. The gentle man that purchased the home at the auction, was someone that knew my ex husband. As it turns out he is trying to sue me for the appliances saying that I stole them. I feel that they were mine. Can he legally do this. I was under the assumption that he purchased the home from the bank not me. Please help.
