: We recently placed a property in a title holding trust and the L.A. county Assessors office has requested the trust agreement. I thought we didn't have to give them the trust agreement? This is private? Please advise.

Go to findlaw.com, or anywhere else you can find California statutes, and take a look at Section 18100.5 of the California Probate Code. All you have to provide is a certification of trust setting forth the existence of the trust and the powers of the trustees, as well as the other items mentioned in the statute. You do not have to provide the trust itself. The other response you received may provide the reason why the assessor made the inquiry: if you did not file a PCOR, the assessor wants to know if it can reassess the property. If you file a PCOR, check the appropriate box for transfers to revocable trusts (I think it's H, but I don't have the form in front of me). The assessor also may request an affidavit swearing that the beneficial ownership has not changed (as sometimes happens when you transfer property to LLCs or other entities).
