questions for wardHello Ward, I am a neophyte investor living in L.A. county. I am always looking for new real estate books to read to help further my knowledge in real estate investing. I often turn to the Sunday edition of the L.A. Times where Robert Bruss reviews new books that come out. Unfortunately nowadays everybody has a book coming out and I just don't have the time to read all of the books. If you had to make a top-ten-best-of-all-time list of books to read what would they be? I also go to a few of the real estate clubs in the area and have seen many speakers including yourself (recently at the Commonwealth in OC). My second question is if you know anyone who teaches a class on how to read the economic indicators to best determine where the strongest FUTURE real estate growth opportunites would be? I know that there isn't anyone out there with a crystal ball, but I'm sure there are some people that are very adept at determining which areas are poised for strong growth and which areas are flat or about to collapse. I subscribe to various finance magazines (i.e. SmartMoney, Kiplinger's, Money etc.)and they seem to contradict each other. Some articles say that a certain area is poised to take off while other articles will say that the exact same area is completely stagnant. After reading these articles I'm often left confused as to who is right. I would like to know how to determine this by myself but I just haven't heard of anyone who teaches such a class. Do you? Many thanks in advance.
