Re: WARIn Reply to: WAR posted by Tim on April 12, 2003 at 4:21 AM : Ward before your message board went down you made a post and advised when the war started I would find better deals at the sales. Well since the war I have not seen this I have seen more people show up and the bidding go up. When will the deals start to come? : Thanks i agree with ward, but for completely different reasons. the war in iraq is only draining off approx. 1-2% of gdp. the BIG picture is the huge shift from federal budget surplus to deficit. the giveaway of the the federal store amounts to a windfall for a select fiew (2%) and virtually no change in tax rates for the rest of us. this "trickle down" theory of economics was largely discredited after the Reagan years, but is constantly being recycled by conservatives thinking that huge budget deficits promote conservatism (less money for social programs). the bottom line seems to me is to keep the budget balanced, and the economy will take care of its self. the current administration's short sightedness will surely cost us all in the long run!
