I bought a house in NV and lived in it as my primary residence.

Then the economy went bad and my husband and I found employment in California.

We tried to sell the house, but there were no buyers.

Finally we decided to rent it out. We reported the income and expense on Schedule E.

After living in the house for over a year the renters bought it as a Short Sale.

For the purpose of the 1099C - can we claim that was our primary residence
when we file our taxes.
