I agree, we did believe that if the police took some form of immediate action that some items could be returned. I am with you on the time and effort, that is our most valuable resource. When I wrote this post I was just especially frustrated at how easy they took my property taxes but how difficult it was for them to act on my behalf and protect me. Unfortunately one of the former owner still occupies the home, so hopefully in a couple days we can begin fixing the home, get it on the market sell it and move on. I do so many of these I just wanted to know what the letter of the law said regarding receipt dates and property rights so that if a similar situation happens on another home I can at least get the police to stop it and be on my side instead of the thieves. Sounds like I might have to wait until tomorrow when I can get ward or our attorney on the phone to answer my more specific questions regarding the receipt and trustees deed.
