Re: Self Directed IRA and Flipping... Capital Gain???In Reply to: Self Directed IRA and Flipping... Capital Gain??? posted by Richard on November 04, 2009 at 10:47 AM : Hello. I was told that Self Directed IRA real estate investing was "tax-deferred", but have recently been advised otherwise. From what I've been told, it seems that when flipping the funds are considered taxable. Does anyone have experience this area. If this is true in regard to taxable income on the flip, is it possible to utilize a 1031 Exchange? with Foreclosure Auctions and Cashier Checks??? If so, how. Thanks so much! IMO, if you follow the IRS rules of SDIRA, flipping Real Estate, or real estate contracts is a capital gain, and tax deferred. If you have a reliable source contradicting this, please post that source. I would be curious to hear the argument.
