Your post is so full of superlatives that it's obvious you really haven't gone very far beyond daydreaming.

Hopes and dreams are fine as that goes, however buying distressed properties at discount, let alone and competing with the pro's at trustee sales, is no place for dreamers "tilting at windmills."

There's money to be made most everywhere, and San Diego does not have a monopoly. However, you need a solid, wriiten plan that includes education, training, capital, and some personal traits that compliment the business. So, decide if you're serious, set aside maybe $5-10K for training, and get ready for the ride of your life.
