Everybody talks about bailing out but few seem to think about the consequences. The United States of America is broke and the only way they can bail out Fannie & Freddie that combined guaranteed close to $5 Trillion is by having the Fed create more money. And then we pay interest on that money to the quasi-private Federal Reserve System. So think about what a bail-out of those proportions will do to the value of the USD; think about what the creation of additional new money to bail out/fund the empty Social Security "fund" will do. I'm not saying that not bailing Fannie and Freddie out will be a cakewalk or the right thing to do at this time. But people need to wake up and understand that this country has gone way too far for way too long. The days of having the World's Reserve Currency and being able to spend at will and living beyond your means are about to be numbered. Be prepared for the "D" word. : ...and I agree that less government is better, which is a lesson that perhaps this country will learn some day. But if the government doesn't intervene in the current situation, we may not have a country much longer.
